Bing Chat for Dummies

I have been using the Edge browser quite regularly due to its powerful Bing chatbot feature which gives me free access to OpenAI’s latest model – GPT-4.  So while everyone is taking about ChatGPT, let’s explore Bing Chat and how it works.

Bing Chat is a feature that lets you talk to an AI-powered chatbot right from your Microsoft Edge browser. You can ask it questions, get answers, and even create content with its help. It’s like having a smart assistant by your side while you browse the web.

To use Bing Chat, you need to have Microsoft Edge installed on your device and sign in with your Microsoft account. Then, you can click on the Bing icon in the upper right corner of your toolbar and start chatting with the chatbot. You can also access Bing Chat from the app menu on your mobile device.

Bing Chat can do a lot of things for you, such as:

  • Search for information and give you comprehensive answers
  • Summarize web pages and documents for you
  • Compare products and prices for you
  • Generate content such as poems, stories, essays, and more
  • Help you rewrite or improve your content
  • And much more!

Bing Chat can also use the context of the web page you’re viewing to give you more relevant answers. For example, if you’re looking at a product, you can ask it to compare it with another one. To enable this feature, you need to turn on Page context in the settings.

The “Compose” feature on Bing Chat is pretty cool and powerful. You can type in some keywords and it will generate a text for you based on your preferences. You can choose the tone, length, format and language of the text. You can also edit the text or ask for suggestions to improve it. It’s like having a personal writer at your fingertips.

Have a go on Bing Chat and let me know what you think!
